Mesoamerica Volunteer Vacations

Join us in 2010 for our week-long volunteer vacation maintaining trails in Costa Rica's famous national parks.  From July 10 to 17 we will spend half a day working, then half a day enjoying what nature has to offer  between the Rincon de la Vieja and Santa Rosa National Parks in the northwestern region of Guanacaste Province.

This experience is open to people of all ages.   Young people under 13 must be accompanied by an adult; teenagers may sign up on their own; families, seniors -- everyone is welcome.  The cost per individual for the program begins at $399 and increases depending on choice of lodging.  Groups of any number may sign up.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, our representative is available to meet with you.

A similar program with teenagers was run by ICAS between 1994 and 2004.  Now, with our own experiential learning site located between these two national parks, we are offering this annual program to participants of all ages.   Based on the number of participants, we will tailor the program to best meet the needs of the group.  Feel free to ask any and all questions you may have, and your feedback is appreciated!

Lodging

Our program cost of $399 per person includes transporting participants from an airport or site within Costa Rica to our location at Rincon de la Vieja, Guanacaste, on July 10 and returning you to an airport or site within Costa Rica between Liberia and San Jose on July 17.  All group meals and local transportation during the week are covered.  We provide tools, administration and management of the program.  Participants are required to provide their own health insurance, which is a requirement for participation. Not everyone need participate in the work activities -- a family or group may include both volunteers and loafers!

If you bring your own tent there is no additional lodging cost!  To stay in one of our tents, already set up and waiting for you, the additional cost for the week is $50 per person.  To stay at the Buena Vista Lodge, located within a couple miles of base camp, the additional cost for the week is$245.  To stay at the Borinquen Resort, also within a couple miles of base camp, the additional cost for the week is $560 (with possible additional upgrades).   All prices are per person based on double occupancy; youth 12 and under staying with parents are exempt from lodging fees!
