Our Language School
The Mesoamerica Language Program (MLP) is located in Costa Rica, in the heart of Central America. Costa Rica is one of the safest countries in the region and one of the most beautiful.
With about a quarter of the country made up of national parks and protected areas, Costa Rica has some of the most spectacular beaches, rainforests and volcanoes, as well as unique wildlife.
MLP is located in a suburb of San Jose, in Costa Rica’s Central Valley. It located just two blocks from the University of Costa Rica in San Pedro, Montes de Oca, easily accessible from the greater San Jose area.
San Pedro is a fun place to be--the atmosphere is young and dynamic with a diversity of Latin culture and student life. There is plenty to do for people of all ages, both socially and culturally, with a large variety of restaurants, cinemas, playhouses, theaters, and educational and cultural events.
Our students represent all age groups, educational levels and professions. They have a wide variety of reasons for wanting to study Spanish, and we make every effort to meet their needs.
During your stay with us, you can live in the community with a Costa Rican Family and take part in a variety of social and academic activities.
Being close to the downtown area, you have access to restaurants and cultural highlights in the nation's capital, San Jose, with a population of over 1 million. The beautiful and stately National Theatre features a full schedule of activities by the national symphonic orchestra, international musicians and musical groups, dance and other events.
MLP is well-established and part of a highly reputable institution. The Institute for Central American Studies (ICAS) is dedicated to the cause of peace, justice and the well-being of the people and land of Central America. ICAS was founded and incorporated in San Jose, Costa Rica, in 1982, exclusively for educational purposes.
The MLP is committed to the highest standards of quality in teaching. For that reason, and unlike many other language schools, our teachers are native Spanish speakers and are professionally trained teachers, with many years of experience.
MLP was the first private language institute in Costa Rica to be accredited by the government's National Learning Institute and certified by ISO-9002.
